I feel sure the tuba is the instrument the ancient Chinese would have wanted to hear this tune played on. It's restful though. If I was a brass teacher I'd be getting all my learners to play this one.

I had to transpose the piano backing into Eb which I did while watching Gogglebox and it was strangely relaxing.

I tried to embody an unhappy hippo for this one. This is the first from the book 'Preludes for Pachyderms' and these pieces are the first I've played to be written specifically for tuba, and it shows. Look out for more pachyderms this month..

This really gets straight into the low tuba, haha - it reminds me of Darth Vader's march if he had a hangover.

This piece inspired me to get into harder tuba territory. I'm still getting the hang of my mini-instrument which gets waterlogged very quickly - would a full sizer be easier I wonder?

Number 2 from Haworth Suite. I've got to say, this one does a bang-up job of sounding like a steam train. The instructions at the end are to 'Hiss through tuba' - I had a go at this...

This is the last of the Grade 4 pieces I own so I'm going to try and step up to Grade 5 next. I'm getting the hang of this tuba but it's pretty quiet and not as responsive as the euph - so far.

Fluency is coming slowly - and this gave me a workout down the low end

Me practising the tuba for exam in 2017. I got a distinction after more practice.

Ooh Ah Canzona - Shining Brass does Bach. I'm aware I'm only just getting away with these - Grade 5 music is pushing me though, so that's good

A tuba Lindy Hop must be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever played. I did enjoy it, despite the insanity.

Tuba the Mighty! You can do it!
